A winter day in Espoo archipelago or at Kauniainen fireplace.
We walk over the ice to Iso Vasikkasaari fireplace. We talk about ice safety and introduce ourselves to the safety equipments.
You have a possibility test snow shoes. The event is free of charge.
Iso Vasikkasaari is less the 1 km away from Nokkala harbor in Matinkylä. We walk there. Aslak promised to check the ice condition: thickness and is the too much water on ice. If so, we have a plan B to visit a new fire place at Kasaberget in Kauniainen. We inform you witch plan we take.
Program:
10:00 Start at Nokkala harbor near Café Nokka Majakka
10:00 - 11:00 Gear check and safety info. Walkabout to fireplace on the island
11:15 - Snacks and refreshment at the fireplace (byo), ice security and some outdoor tips
13:00 - 14:00 Return to Nokkala
Gear list:
Warm and wind resistant clothes: beanie, gloves, neck scarf, winter jacket and trousers, warm layers and socks, good winter high boots or rubber boots.
Sun glasses (hopefully we need them)
Back bag to carry your gear and food.
Lunch of your choice.
A knife
A scout scarf
A pullover or a fleece for break
Ice picks (if you have)
Snow shoes (if you have)
